    Can students use this software on an iPad?

    • @davidshepherd9562
      @davidshepherd9562 4 года назад

      For this class, we use the Sonic Pi software (see sonic-pi.net/). It runs on Windows, Mac, and Raspberry Pi only. Sorry for this limitation, but it won't run on iPad. Note that the reason we use this software is because it produces really high quality music, but it does have the limitation of not running on the iPad.

      @@davidshepherd9562 Totally understand, and thanks for answering my question. Most middle school students in Arlington County are issued iPads. For the high school, they're issued MacBooks.

    Current is induced by changing magnetic field in a wire. Increased velocity increases the current. So what would happen if you wove the enamel coated copper wire into the belt and placed a halbach array of magnets along the length of the gap. I wonder what kind of current is possible at the center where the belt is moving faster/further than the edges where it is more or less just quivering.

    The Tacoma narrows bridge collapse was because the bridge was unfortunately built in an aerofoil section and not because of aeroelastic flutter.

    I love this! Glad to see Shawn Frayne's idea is still evolving. I nerded out big time when I first saw his clips in the early '00s. Wrote him and talked by email a bit. It got me pondering a few things related to a thread on FB about how Denmark had a day recently where they produced 140% of its electricity with Wind. www.ewao.com/a/1-denmark-just-produced-140-of-its-electricity-needs-with-renewable-wind-power There we were talking about how one of the biggest misnomers about wind turbines, is that they pose a significant threat to birds. There is some risk but it's so vastly overstated. AND, to the extent there is any issue, there are some wind turbines designs now that address this in part. For example the horizontal axis of the Archimedes spiral blade configuration gives it a tiny profile without the appearance of clear zones to pass through for most birds. www.gottagodoityourself.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/403/2015/05/2015-05-28_0-30-37.jpg But the real fallacy of the idea is that wind is the worst threat in any way right? Not only do fossil fuels kill more collectively across the industry, but windows outstrip everything else. Building windows, all of them collectively, the more the worse, by many many times than nearly anything else. Followed only closely by Cats! www.sibleyguides.com/conservation/causes-of-bird-mortality/ My three are mostly indoors cats but they bring me little presents now and then. And we have a lot of strays in the area. Windturbine bird strikes are like a fraction of 1% of all of the threats. Not really a real issue, but it is a popular meme. But hey, so windows. Windows, with Louvers, are really good for managing internal temp. And, they make the window, look a whole lot less open. i00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/852/188/420/420188852_851.jpg Soooo, wind belts, on window louver rigs? Insulated for sound so no humming gets inside unless the window is open. Wind power, that manages interiour temp and helps keep the lights on, looks cool, and drastically reduces the instances of bird strikes? Put an auto timer on office lights so they go off at night and bob's your uncle. Might use that in a comic sometime as BG detail, but thought i'd toss the idea out there. Would love to see someone try it!
